The name comes from the first online avatar I created in 2002. Though he/it has evolved significantly, sgttomas is nevertheless the way I channel myself through this medium.
There is no canonical way to pronounce this name, but if “sergeant” is used there is no intention to imply that I have at any time been in the military or police. And my heartfelt respect to those men and women who serve honorably.
